Nepeta sibirica “Donepserwior” (SERENE WILD ORCHID) – surprising catmint with orchid-like flowers
With Nepeta sibirica “Donepserwior” (SERENE WILD ORCHID), Dümmen Orange introduces a striking and unexpected novelty to the Nepeta range. This seedling immediately attracts attention with its unique flowers: elegant, bright pink flowers with subtle pink dots – an orchid-like appearance that is rare in this species.
The flowering is not only aesthetically unique, but also functional: bees, bumblebees and butterflies are attracted in large numbers, allowing SERENE WILD ORCHID to actively contribute to biodiversity in the garden or on the balcony. The plant flowers profusely and for a long period – from early summer until well into autumn – while maintaining a compact, sturdy and neat growth habit.
The dark-coloured foliage is remarkably healthy and resistant to disease. In addition, the plant is drought tolerant, low maintenance and easy to combine in borders, pots or planters. The selection was developed by Dümmen Orange B.V. in De Kwakel and will be marketed from spring 2026 onwards through Flevoflora, Florizon and Kees Preesman. Plant breeders’ rights protection is pending.
