Ficus carica “Minfigfor” (RED JULY) is a new red fig that stands out for its early and double fruiting: from July onwards and again in the autumn. This compact, strongly branching fig tree is particularly suitable for both open ground and pot cultivation. RED JULY produces strikingly large fruits weighing up to 150 grams each, even at a young age. A 10-year-old tree yields up to 700 figs annually.
This selection is highly resistant to drought (after good rooting), hardy, low-maintenance and requires only light pruning. RED JULY thrives in a sunny location and is an ideal choice for enthusiasts north of the Loire who are looking for a productive fig tree.
Ficus carica RED JULY was selected from seedlings by Isabelle and Jean-Yves Forest of Pépinières Forest SARL in Louresse-Rochemenier (France). Plant breeders’ rights have been granted. The new selection has only been commercially available since January 2025. Formidable Plant Breeders from Beaufort-en-Anjou submitted the plant for testing.
