Hydrangea macrophylla “Hokosiri” (MILLION STARS) is an extraordinary newcomer that immediately catches the eye with its abundance of blue, star-shaped flowers. A flower appears on every shoot, resulting in rich flowering that makes this compact plant a real eye-catcher in the garden. It is not without reason that it bears the name MILLION STARS – it looks as if the plant is covered with a shower of stars.
This unique hybrid is a cross between Hydrangea serrata and macrophylla, combining the best of both species: the elegant inflorescence of Serrata and the flower size and abundance of Macrophylla. The umbel-shaped flowers have a refined, graceful appearance, while the plant structure remains compact and well-branched – ideal for both garden planting and pots.
Hydrangea MILLION STARS was developed by HOKO Breeding in Boskoop and will be marketed by Van der Peijl Tuinplanten from 10 June 2025. The plant is protected by plant breeders’ rights and has been submitted for inspection by Van der Peijl Tuinplanten.
