Hibiscus syriacus ‘Rwoods8’ (PURPLE CHIFFON)

Hibiscus syriacus “Rwoods8” (PURPLE CHIFFON) is a striking new addition to the successful Chiffon series. This seedling selection from R. Woods in Norfolk, England, immediately catches the eye with its dark red flower buds that open into vibrant purple, semi-double flowers measuring approximately 10 cm in diameter. Flowering begins in July and continues until October, providing long-lasting and spectacular colour in the garden.
Like all other members of the Chiffon series, PURPLE CHIFFON naturally forms a well-branched and evenly shaped shrub that requires little maintenance. Pruning in spring is possible but not necessary. Thanks to its robust growth and striking flowers, this Hibiscus is ideal for a wide range of applications: from urban environments and indoor gardens to borders, cottage gardens, patios and coastal areas.
Hibiscus syriacus PURPLE CHIFFON is protected by plant breeders’ rights and will be marketed from 2025 by Kwekerij Roos, Hochberg Nurseries Ltd. and Kordes Jungpflanzen Handels GmbH. They will therefore jointly submit the plant for testing. Plantipp B.V. is responsible for the management of this new variety.
