Agapanthus praecox “Kek5006” (ZAMBEZI) – a perennial, variegated eye-catcher with lavender blue flowers
With Agapanthus praecox “Kek5006” (ZAMBEZI), HORTIVAL DEFFUSION introduces a striking new addition to the Agapanthus range. This variety is distinguished by its two-coloured foliage: fresh green with bright yellow accents.
The variegated character is permanently stable and does not revert to green.
The rich flowering is also striking: ZAMBEZI forms numerous spherical flower heads in a refined lavender blue hue. This makes this cultivar unique among variegated agapanthus, which generally flower less profusely. Thanks to its regular, compact growth habit, this plant is easy to grow and perfect for use in borders, pots or public planting.
This evergreen mutant was bred by Keith Kristen in South Africa and will be marketed by HORTIVAL DEFFUSION from September 2025. The plant is not protected by plant breeders’ rights.
ZAMBEZI combines a long-lasting decorative effect with strong garden value – from spring to late summer. A bright addition to any garden centre range.
